And another movie tournament came to an end. This one had movies from the 2000’s from the horror genre. If you don’t know how these tournaments work click here. Let’s see what you have chosen to go forward in our Horror 2000’s big tournament.
Round 1 and 2 highlights
You personally hurt me when Saw (2004) won over Triangle (2009). Just kidding… But yes, I got surprised with some results. In Round 1 I thought REC (2007) would defeat The Mist (2007). Not judging any of the films, just based on popularity. The biggest winner in the first round was Scream 3 (2000), with a 79% win over 1408 (2007).
Half of the movies moved on into the next round, and The Exorcism of Emily Rose (2005) decided to obliterate Paranormal Activity (2007) with a 95% win. I’m not gonna say I’m surprised by how anything went down in Round 2, but it was interesting to see your preference for Resident Evil (2002) over Scream 3, especially after its big win in the previous round.
The Semi Finals
After your input, the A side of the grid ended up with Saw versus Resident Evil. The latter won 63% to 37%. Again, a bit surprised… No doubt that the first installment in this zombie franchise is already considered a classic by many, but so its Saw. Personally, I find that the CGI in Resident Evil didn’t age very well. But hey, this tournament is for you to choose, not me.
The B side ended up with The Hills Have Eyes (2006) versus The Exorcism of Emily Rose. I like both… I mean, the first is one of the best “road trip” horror movies, while the second is my favorite regarding the “exorcism” theme. You decided that Emily Rose should go to the final after a 89% vs 11% voting result.
Your halloween recipe was zombies against demons. Resident Evil biggest win until here didn’t outperform the smallest win of The Exorcism of Emily Rose. But, in the end, zombies were stronger. Thus, Resident Evil is the first winner of a 2000’s Horror Movies Tournament, and its now qualified for the final one.
Here you have the final results… My personal final would be between Triangle and The Exorcism of Emily Rose, where the first would win. Would you also vote differently?
